The idea for AmneziaVPN was born in 2020 at the first Demhack hackathon, and then continued to grow with Privacy Accelerator.
Since then, our product concept hasn't changed. We defend users’ right to privacy and help keep the internet free, no matter where in the world you are.
Over the life of the project, we’ve built a unique self-hosted app with the capabilities of top VPN services and protocols that resist DPI detection.
One of the best VPN services — Amnezia Premium — is recommended to their friends by 95% of our users.
We also provide the completely free Amnezia Free for different regions, as well as VPN solutions for businesses, and we have launched our own hosting service.
Throughout the project’s development we follow five principles:
1. Maximum openness
That’s why our app and website are open-source—both client and server. We do not collect or store any data, including logs or analytics.
2. Maximum security
We underwent an independent security audit by 7A Security for all our products, including the protocols.
3. Maximum ease of use
We built a simple app with automatic setup so you don’t have to deal with complex configurations.
4. Maximum resilience
To achieve this, we added support for all modern popular protocols as well as traffic obfuscation. The VPN protocols we use work even where others fail.
5. Maximum flexibility
Amnezia’s flexibility doesn’t lock you into our client. You can launch your own VPN from the Amnezia app, generate a configured connection file, and use it with other original clients such as OpenVPN, WireGuard and more.
Our main goal is to build VPN apps and services that match the demands of the time and today’s global reality. We continuously improve our technology so you always have fast access to your favorite sites.
